Kirsty Hodgkins Update

31 July 2020

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give you all a quick little update. A few weeks ago I played the Colorado Strokeplay, first tournament in about three months, finished fourth in that one. 72,73,75 struggled a little bit with putting but hit the ball really well. Heading into the next tournament I started practising putting one-handed and it seemed to really work. The tournament was the Colorado Matchplay and had a qualifier on the Monday to seed the players. Shot 7 under 65 to qualify in the first spot. Won all my matches going 6/4 then won on the 19th then 3/1 and finally in the 36 hole final I won 4/3. A quick little fact about my win for the second match, i was two down with 3 to play and have reached a driveable par 4 which goes over water. My opponent played safe so I said ok lets go for green, thinned the drive and ended in the water. My caddy then convinced me to attempt a shot at the green again where I put the second ball to 5 ft and made the putt to square the hole.

Finally I am currently in Maryland prepping for the US amatuer at Woodmont Country Club. Play begins Monday with two strokeplay rounds and then the top 64 heading into the matchplay portion. Scores should be up on the usga website beginning Monday. I haven't received tee times yet but will send through once I have them.

Hope everyone is safe and happy

Kirsty xx
