Greg Norman Junior Masters

12 December 2018

Greg Norman Junior Masters.

Our only 4th round qualifier, Jade Longstaff, had a less than stellar 83 to finish off the week and complete the tournament in 11th place in the 17 and under division.  The look on Jade's face said, "It's just not happening!"

A great event and the competitors played some amazing golf.

A little disappointing for the Readies but they have endured three rounds on two tough tracks.

In round three, Jade shot 83 to finish tied 10th in her division and will likely qualify for the final round. Amy Hodgkins had 95 to finish 20th, Tyler Duncan had a solid 73, while Ti-shon had 77 to see them in 21st and 22nd places respectively and missing the cut.

Irrespective of the results, they proved great representatives of the club. Well done to all of you and good luck Jade.

Tuesday 11th December

A better day for most of the Reddies.

.Jade Longstaff recovered from yesterday with a 1 over par 72 which included 3 birdies, 1 bogey and a triple. She is now in 9th place in the 17 & under. Amy Hodgkin improved 11 shots with her 88 to move to 21st.

Ti-shon Wait Wai shot a 77 to move up three places to 20th. Tyler Duncan just shook his head and said, "I shouldn't have come back."" on the way to an 84. But we all know what Tyler is likely to do in Wednesday's third round.

Not the best of days for the Redcliffe reps at this event on day 1. Jade Longstaff had 86 to be 18th in the 17 and under group while Amy Hodgkins returned 97 to be 24th in the 13 and under section. In the boys 17 and under division, Tyler Duncan's 74 sees him in 12th lace and Ti-shon Wait Wai is 23rd after a 79.

Day 2 moves from Palmer Colonial to Palmer Gold Coast.

To make everyone feel better, a lad in the 13 and under group, who plays off 2, parred the front 9 before shooting 6 under on the back 9 including a hole in one when he used an 8 iron on the 159 m hole.

Good luck to our 4 representatives competing in this event on the Gold Coast from  Monday 'til Thursday.

Amy Hodgkins is in the 13 and Under Girls division (field of 32), Jade Longstaff in the 17 and under Girls (28), while Tyler Duncan and Ti-shon Wai Wai will go head to head in the 17 and under Boys (37).

Participation is by invitation only and each player has qualified through various events during the year. Played at Palmer Colonial and Palmer GC, competitors play stroke play for 3 rounds before a cut is made for the final round.

All the best.
