Dorothy Banks Charity Golf Day

One of the major events in the Women's Golf Program is the
Dorothy Banks Charity Golf Day.
Dorothy Banks joined the club in 1967 and was Ladies President for three years from 1978 to 1980. Jill Adams followed her as the next President from 1981 to 1982. By Jill’s account Dorothy was a great President. Dorothy was diagnosed with leukaemia in 1982 and tragically died within 6 weeks of her diagnosis so Jill decided that a fundraising day in memory of Dorothy was the best way to celebrate her life. The inaugural Dorothy Banks Charity Day commenced on the 21st September 1982 and has now been running successfully for the past 39 years.
One of the major sponsors of the Dorothy Bank’s Charity Day, Eric Oxenford, was long-time friends of Dorothy and her family (going back 80 years in the case of Eric’s family). Eric along with Paul Barber and Trish Clowes provide sponsorship as a gift of appreciation in honour of this friendship. As such, the Dorothy Banks Charity Day is an enduring legacy within the Redcliffe Golf Club.
Over the years, various charities have benefitted from Dorothy Banks Day. This year the Dorothy Banks’ Charity Day will be fundraising in support of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation https://www.acrf.com.au/
Details of the event will be released soon
