Update from Kirsty Hodgkins

30 May 2018

Hi Everyone,

Nationals was amazing!! It was treated like a real pro tournament with cameras and interviews and name placards on the range, as well as our own scorer and scoreboards. Karsten Creek is officially the craziest course I've ever played but it was definitely the best. Greens were pure and fast and if you went off the fairway then you automatically had to re-tee. I shot 74, 77, 76. A couple dropped shots on the second day was hard to stomach as we ended up missing the first cut by 1 shot (this seems to be our thing) but it was a great test of golf and I'm even more excited now to make it next year.

Now I'm just chilling and relaxing, it's nice to not have to worry about homework or exams. Unfortunately I will not be back in Australia for a while (no surprise visits either, sorry mum). I am taking a couple of online classes here in Boulder but also at the end of this week I will start with an engineering internship which should be pretty cool. I will be working outdoor up in the mountains for most of it so I'll get to explore Colorado while working!

I'll try to keep you updated throughout the summer (winter), I will be trying to qualify for the US Women's amateur with the qualifier being played at the end of June

Hope everyone is well

Kirsty xx

Hi Everyone,

School is finally finished!!!!!! Woooooooo!!! I'm so happy for the semester to be over. I get a little break before summer school starts so I'm excited.

Also what is equally exciting is that your colorado buffaloes are headed to the NCAA national championships!! After missing out last year by one shot we managed to make it this year by one shot! Came down literally to the last hole. We played at the San Francisco regional site and I shot 71, 74, 71 ( the last round, I had one birdie and 17 pars. Easily the most frustrating round I've ever played!!) to finish tied 17th and the buffs finished sixth which was enough to get us through. We leave this Tuesday for Stillwater, Oklahoma. There will be 24 teams there, with 3 days of stroke play and then the top 15 move onto the last day of stroke play where the top 8 after that will move into the match play stage.

Live scoring will be on golfstat as usual. There will also be coverage by the golf channel (I think) of the last strokeplay day and then all the match play days. Hopefully we made it through far enough for you guys to see us on tv!!

Hope everyone is well

Kirsty xx
