Redcliffe pennants team loses its home game against Nudgee

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

The Redcliffe pennants team has suffered its first home defeat of the season at the hands of Nudgee, by the narrowest of margins. The overall result was 10 to 11

In the other Division 2 fixture, Gailes drew with Keperra at Keperra. This now puts Nudgee at the top of the table with its final game at home, and pushes Redcliffe to the bottom, fighting for survival at Gailes next week. We need a win at Gailes to ensure we do not get relegated to Division 3 next year.  The updated table can be found under the Members tab on this web site.

Redcliffe won the Open grade but was beaten in both the Masters and Junior grades.

The result in the Open Grade was 7 wins, 1 squared and 3 losses.  This win puts Redcliffe at the top of the table in the Open grade, ahead of Gailes on games difference. A win or a draw against Gailes next week will see Redcliffe win the Open grade.

The Masters Grade result was 1 win, 1 squared and 3 losses.

The Juniors Grade result was 1 win and 4 losses.

The individual results were as follows:

Open Grade

Taylor McDonald defeated Simon Tooman 1 up
Dean Dunleavy defeated Rob Stevenson 5 & 4

Pennants team for home match against Nudgee named.

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

All Division 2 pennants teams have now played 2 home and 2 away games, and they are all on the same number of points.  All teams have won their home games and lost their away games.  This means that not only can ANY team win the competition, but ANY team could also come last and be relegated to Division 3 next year.

Redcliffe have a home game this Sunday against Nudgee, who are currently first on games difference.  This is followed by an away match against Gailes the next Sunday.  A solid win at home, against Nudgee, is vital if we are to have a realistic chance of taking out the Division.  Our form at home this year has been excellent, so we look forward to continuing that trend.

Last Saturday, Doug Klein, a member of our Junior pennants squad, broke par at Redcliffe for his first time when he shot a gross score of 68.  This was the second best gross score of the day, and was only beaten by Taylor MacDonald’s 67.  This is a terrific effort for any player, let alone a junior, so our congratulations are extended to Doug on his wonderful achievement.

The pennants match this Sunday is at Redcliffe starting at 7.00 am.

The Open pennants team will start teeing off the first hole in reverse order while the Juniors will start teeing off the eighth at 7.00 am.  The Masters will tee off on the eighth immediatly following the juniors.

The Redcliffe pennants team for Sunday is made up of the following players:
Brad Dagan,  Brian Lowder,  Chris Walk,  Dean Dagan,  Dean Dunleavy,  Doug Klein,  Dylan Taylor,  Dylan Weber,  Jake Taylor,  Jarrod Stirling,  Liam Brogden,  Luke Weber,  Mitchell Smith,  Pat McEwan,  Peter Dagan,  Ryan Walk,  Sean Curran,  Taylor McDonald,  Tony Rendell,  Terry O’Keeffe,  Trevor Pryor.

If you can make it, please come along and lend them your support and encouragement.

As usual, the results will be posted, on this site, as soon as possible on Sunday afternoon.

2012 Pennants season about to commence

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

The 2012 Pennants season is about to commence with the first match, scheduled for Sunday 19 February, against Keperra at Redcliffe.

Redcliffe is in Division 2 this year and will be playing a series of home and away games against Nudgee, Gailes and Keperra.  A win in the division will get us back to Division 1 in 2013, so we have an incentive to do well.  The draw sees us commencing the season with two home games, so hopefully we’ll get off to a flying start.

We have a very strong and keen team this year, with the first eight players in the open squad having either a scratch or plus handicap.

So, if you want to see some great match play golf, come along and support the players at their first home game.  The first pair will be teeing off at 7.00 am.

The Pennants team members will be presented with their shirts just before the Friday night draw on 17 February.

The members of our 2012 Pennants squad are:

Open:
Taylor Macdonald, Steven Johnston, Dean Dunleavy, Sean Curran, Brad Dagan,  Dean Dagan, Luke Weber, Peter Di Tommaso, Jason Duffy, Tony Rendell, Patrick McEwan, Jake Taylor, Daniel Farness, Liam Brogden, Chris Walk and Michael Courtnage.
