Redcliffe played its first match of the season against Nudgee on a damp Nudgee golf course and lost 4 to 2. The result in the other Group 2 match between Royal Queensland and Sanctuary Cove was a 3 all draw.

The individual match results were as follows:

Trevor Pryor defeated Grahame McDonald 4 and 3
Terry O’Keeffe lost to Steve Rowley 4 and 3
Tom Truman lost to Alan Davies 3 and 2
Morgens Andersen defeated Glen Daniels 5 and 4
Max Misso and John Singleton lost to Peter Raverty and Dale Kurz 3 and 2
John Jayo and Bob Jones lost to Paul Sutton and Joe DePasquale 1 down

Trevor Pryor did well to beat Grahame McDonald as Grahame is a nationally ranked senior player and has won state senior titles in the past. Trevor has now beaten Grahame the two times he has played him.

Morgens Andersen also played very well to easily win. This was Morgens’ first match representing Redcliffe along with 3 other first timers in John Singleton, John Jayo and Bob Jones.

This week’s match is at Brisbane Golf Club on Thursday at 12.15 pm and the team is as follows:

The Senior Men’s Club Teams Challenge for 2012 begins this week.  Redcliffe is in Group 2 and has its first match against Nudgee at Nudgee on Friday, 4/5/2012 at 11.30 am.  Also in Group 2 are Royal Queensland, Brisbane and Sanctuary Cove.

There are 8 players in a team.  The competition consists of home and away matches played mid-week against each of the other 4 clubs in the group. Four single  matches and two 4 ball matches are played.  All team members must be over 55 years and at least two of the players must be over 60 years of age. 

Last year Redcliffe won its group and then made it to the Grand Final where they lost to a very strong Coolangatta Tweed Heads team.

The Redcliffe squad for the first match against Nudgee is Max Gabriel, John Jayo, Bob Jones, Max Misso, Terry O’Keeffe, Trevor Pryor, John Singleton and Tom Truman.

Congratulations to each of the three Redcliffe golfers selected in the BDGA Inter District Squad to take on the GCDGA (Gold Coast) on Sunday, 22nd of April at Wynnum Golf Club. 

They are Dean Dunleavy, Taylor McDonald and Brad Dagan.  Dean has been selected in the Opens squad, Taylor in the Colts squad and Brad in the Juniors squad.  We wish them well and I am are sure they will do both the BDGA and Redcliffe Golf Club proud.

The Brisbane Junior Championship is being held at Royal Queensland Golf Club on the 29th of April 2012. The cost to enter for Juniors is FREE.
Winner on the day will take away $500 to spend on golf related products. Prizes will also be awarded to teams representing their home club.

Congratulations to Taylor McDonald who partnered Cameron Smith (Royal Queensland) to comfortably win the 2012 Queensland Men’s Foursomes Championships at Redland Bay Golf Club, with an impressive six under total 138 for 36 holes.

Enjoying a one shot lead after the first round, Smith and McDonald drew away to win by 7 shots from eventual runners-up Cameron Powell (Brisbane) and Adam Gemmell (Ipswich) who finished on 145 (+1).

The Women’s Foursomes Championship was won in similarly dominant fashion with Christina Mew (Royal Queensland) and Lauren Mason (Horton Park) streaking the field to win by 12 shots on a two under total of 142.

Ali Orchard (Surfers Paradise) and Michelle Pericic (Southport) played consistently over 36 holes to finish runners-up on a total of 154.

The Redcliffe Pennants team has suffered another narrow loss at Gailes in its final match of the year. This was a do or die match if we were to remain in Division 2, and in spite of a great effort, especially by the Junior grade, Redcliffe will be playing in Division 3 next year.

The overall results was 9 to 12 made up of 8 wins, 2 squared and 11 losses. In the other Division 2 fixture, Nudgee defeated Keperra by 11 to 10 to take out the Division 2 title.

Nudgee’s win against Redcliffe at Redcliffe probably clinched the title for them and also resulted in Redcliffe finishing at the bottom of the table. Nudgee’s was the only away win for the season in Division 2.

In Sunday’s match, Gailes won the Open and Masters grades with Redcliffe winning the Junior grade.

The result in the Open Grade was 3 wins, 1 squared and 7 losses.
The Masters Grade result was 1 win, 1 squared and 3 losses.
The Juniors Grade result was 4 wins and 1 loss.
